Show your skin some love

Many people would like their skin to look as young as possible and by making some healthy lifestyle choices and adopting a good skin care routine, you can help reduce the signs of both healthy and unhealthy ageing – it’s never too late to start.1,2

Sun damage and smoking are two avoidable lifestyle choices that will accelerate the ageing of your skin. Sunlight causes the appearance of age spots and UV rays cause damage to fibres that give your skin strength and elasticity, while smoking promotes wrinkles through repetitive facial expressions and further accelerates the damage caused by sun exposure.1,3

Show your skin some love: Avoid sunbathing, wear protective clothing and use SPF30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors. If you smoke, the best way to protect your skin is to quit.2,3

Dry skin can worsen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Age-related skin dryness can be made worse by irritants that strip the oils from your skin, such as strong soaps, chlorinated swimming pools and long hot showers or baths.1,3

Show your skin some love: To help keep your skin moist and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce your bathing time, use warm water, choose a cleanser suitable for your skin and apply a daily moisturiser. Many moisturisers now contain sunscreen and some also contain agents that lighten the colour of the skin. Consult with your Pharmacist for a moisturiser or cleanser that fits your skin needs.1,3

Did you know?

Although undesirable, thinning, sagging, wrinkles, age spots, dryness and broken blood vessels are actually all signs of a healthy ageing skin?1
